How To Choose The Right Hot Tub For Your Home & Health

Choosing a new Hot Tub/Whirlpool can actually be somewhat of a huge task. With so many whirlpools out there, I assumed Jacuzzi was the only brand on the market. I found out real soon, what an array of shapes, sizes and bells and whistles that go along with them. Gone are the days of a simple round early 70’s style Jacuzzi steel tub wrapped with a bunch of wooden planks, and some contraption that heats the whirlpool like some scene out of a “Road Runner” cartoon.

Just like me, I bet you’ve worked a long day trying to please your customers and sitting in that so called ergonomic office chair. Probably better off sitting on a wooden tree stump. Let’s not forget the traffic on the way home. You’ve finally made it home ready to relax! In what? A 60 inch steel rectangular bathtub or a Jacuzzi handed down to you from your grandparents after they moved south? They were probably held together by Duct tape. Your grandparents figured, hey the astronauts used it! Yeah but that was new tape, not tape used to get the dog hairs off the couch. Gross!

These days hot tubs or whirlpools. Depending on how you perceive these marvels of bathing, come in different sizes and shapes, and materials too. I’ve seen them made from wood, acrylic and age old steel. Sure OK so you saw that movie with Mel Gibson where the house blows up and he hides in a steel tub.

Maybe you didn’t see the movie, but I’m positive you have heard, in case of tornado hide in your steel bathtub.

I’ll assume it’s so they find your dead body sparkly clean for the funeral. I mean really, all your close friends will be their! Sorry didn’t mean to be so morbid. But with these modern times, it’s time to get rid of that old steel tub and seriously look into investing in a whirlpool for your home.

Your back, feet and all over muscles will love you for as long as you own you’re oh so comfortable whirlpool and you’ll also reap the benefits of being VERY alive and clean for your close nit group of friends and family.

A whirlpool is usually filled with hot water wherein one or more bathers can soak for relaxation, massage therapy and even hydrotherapy. Natural gas or electric heaters are used to control the heated temperature of the water. Basically a man made spa in the confines of your home. The older models like Jacuzzi sometimes use natural gas. The newer models on the market use clean safe electricity.

Looking back in time, it’s described throughout history how people wandered long distances in order to get to the heated rich waters of natural hot springs. As early as 2000 BC the Egyptians used warm baths as a method of relaxation and restorative healing. You really have to figure in what it takes to build a pyramid back in the day. I can only imagine what they felt like at the end of the day. It was just a matter of time that someone came up with the idea of a warm exhilarating hot bath. I also have a funny feeling that the majority didn’t get to enjoy such restorative healing benefits.

Records showed the earliest recognized hot tub was in Persia in 600 BC, made for a King of course. Throughout history, the Roman Empire has proved its intense love affair with hot tubs. The Greeks likewise have their very own version, Plato, a popular Greek Philosopher described the restorative as well as curing values of warm water in his works.

I’ll assume having an ancient whirlpool nearby, I’d probably come up with some great Philosophy too. I won’t even bother going into detail about the Romans, they simply knew a good thing when they saw one. Even the Japanese and Tom Cruise where getting into the whole hot tub scene back in the 1800’s. (I refer to the movie “The Last Samurai”).

Basically a whirlpool is a body as well as a mind healer, and the ancients knew this all along.

In a nut shell people LOVE the qualities of a hot bubbly bath. I mean really, who doesn’t.

There are exceptions of course for skunks, lobsters and the wicked witch of the east.

People (no pun intended) are just itching to get into a Hot Comfy Whirlpool!

According to the International SPA Association (ISPA), hydrotherapy has long been a staple in European spas.

It’s the generic term for therapies using jets, underwater massage and mineral baths and others. An Atlantis whirlpool offers such amenities as hydrotherapy. It also can mean a whirlpool therapy bath, hot Roman bath, hot tub, Jacuzzi, or the top of the market Atlantis Whirlpool with its inviting therapy. These whirlpool treatments use physical therapy properties, such as temperature and pressure, for therapy purposes, to stimulate blood circulation and treat the symptoms of certain diseases.

But there are some factors to keep in mind when purchasing your first whirlpool.

It can be a big decision. Luckily for us there are some companies that bend over backwards to service you’re every beck and call. And after you purchase your first whirlpool, the companies know the whirlpool will be there to serve you, caress, and make you feel loved. From what I hear from whirlpool owners, these are actual descriptions of what they feel when they step out from a long bath.

Take a look below at some things you must think about when you choose the right hot tub

The Area

Where exactly will it be installed in your home? Normally a whirlpool is meant for indoors, but with so many styles to choose from, people are using unique styles for the outside of their home also. Deciding on and preparing the proper area will surely save you any unwanted headaches. Carpenters always say, measure twice, cut once.

Design and Dimension

Whirlpools are available in a wide array of models and sizes. You can also easily share your new Whirlpool / Hot Tub with that special person in your life. Some companies carry just a few models, and then there are others that are out of this world. I have seen whirlpools designed for two that look like a cockpit in a spaceship from the future, and designed by some future Gucci stylist. These whirlpools interior curves where made for face to face seating with the drain centered halfway, so you can sit on either end comfortably. Or side by side for that matter.

Some whirlpools also come with the interior space and exterior shape for positioning in the interior of your home. You can invest in a whirlpool that fits your needs. They were designed to fit any nook or cranny in your home. The whirlpools come in different sizes, such as rectangular, circular, and even fit snug into a corner. Those old Jacuzzi jalopy days are over.

Maintenance and Cleaning

The majority of Whirlpools are now furnished with self cleaning functionality along with the capability to cleanse the water. This would signify a cleaner, germ and bacteria free tub all the time. Modern Times are here to stay.

With these new Whirlpools, at a touch of a button, you will be cleaning parts of your whirlpool you never where able to clean in the life of a regular steel bathtub. I’m pretty sure Gran-mamas 1970’s stained Jacuzzi doesn’t do that. (Yet again, gross!)

Jets

The actual jet is the heart and soul of your hot tub or spa, the jet depends on the goal you intend. You may need a distinct jet in order to have a therapeutic massage, or when you wish to target a particular part of your body.

Most of the whirlpools have two sets of jets, some large and some small, they both do their specialty of revitalizing your muscles.

The Extras!

I almost forgot that today’s whirlpool models actually have bells and whistles for their bells and whistles! I kid you not, companies offer aromatherapy. The whirlpools already come with little air jets that blow small champagne bubbles up and around your sore muscles. Believe me I have this option, it actually works. at the same time you can purchase small aromatherapy capsules and place them into the allotted capsule holder and out from the small air jets comes your favorite fragrance.

You can also get a whirlpool equipped with LED lights that change colors and glow beneath the water in your whirlpool (Chromatherapy). No need for lighting up candles when you have these lights built into your bathtub. Standard on some models, Chromatherapy LED lighting will illuminate your whirlpool bath with a virtual rainbow of blue, green, red or fuchsia. So, sit back, relax and enjoy the light and scent show!

Now you can consider yourself a whirlpool connoisseur. There is a lot out there, but hopefully with the knowledge I have shared with you, you’ll be a better equipped and wiser shopper. Please don’t forget to bring the towels!
